What happens when you mix good old Lucasfilm marketing with a crap load of food dye? The Vader burger! To celebrate the re-release the equally gag inducing Star Wars Episode 1 in 3D, a French burger chain is letting Star Wars nerds choose which side of the force they are loyal to with their taste buds.
Luckily, this ghastly dark side burger is a France exclusive… for now.
At first glance, Hasbro’s my3D iPhone/iPod viewing attachment looks like an April Fool’s joke gone horribly wrong. Bearing a uncanny resemblance to the classic View-Master toy, the my3D might look like a piece of tech from last century, but surprisingly impresses with a robust starting lineup and completely reasonable asking price.
If Hasbro’s my3D had a catchphrase “Looks can be deceiving” would be the perfect fit. It really is the futuristic plastic cousin of the classic View-Master toy that first surfaced in the late 1930s. Not only does the my3D sport a similar look to the iconic View-Master, it capitalizes on the same stereoscopic eye trickery to bring still and moving images to life. By keeping your head and eyes attached to the black and blue googles the my3D doesn’t suffer from the “sweet spot” issues that early adopters of Nintendo’s 3DS have complained about.
This fixed view point makes the my3D’s visuals really pop, but creates it’s own issues due to the complete immersion the product provides. After 5 to 10 minutes I found myself needing to take a break because my eyes were working overdrive only fixating on the stereoscopic images flickering in front of my eyes. The my3D also uses the iPod/iPhone’s tilt sensor to create 360 degrees of movement, which sounds great in theory, but can be completely disorienting after you remove your focus from the head piece.
Plus, don’t expect to be picking up any strange sporting this tech gear at the local bar… retro sheik is so last year.
The hardware requires no batteries and is extremely simple to set up. The current version comes with 3 case trays supporting all current iPhone 3G and above handsets, and should be easily updated if Apple goes with a new hardware design in the future. Each unit also has it’s own serial number that consumer’s are instructed to enter once they download the main my3D app from the iTunes store.
It’s clunky and goofy looking, but the my3D delivers on it’s promise – a cost effective way to view 3D in the comfort of your own home. If you’re remotely interested in viewing media in a whole new dimension then run down to the local Target and pick one up.

Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right… need we say more? Today’s Just the Tip is an ode to the Konami Code – the one true staple when it comes to video game cheats.
Most gamers have the code engraved in there head thanks to Contra for the NES, but did you know the code originally popped up first in Konami’s ship based shooter Gradius? Wikipedia actually has a fantastic list of all the games (and websites) that have made use of this infamous cheat. Our favorite? ESPN.com’s magical unicorn transformation…
Oh, and that tattoo your mom showed me last night…
While searching for the latest tips for today’s Just the Tip we came across this great clip from the classic Quentin Tarantino flick Reservoir Dogs…
Words to live by, kids.
This post is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S.
Today’s Just the Tip is all about the nutritional value of one of my favorite foods – the banana. Did you know that the banana not only is a great source of potassium, but also has been proven to fend off colorectal and breast cancer?
Nature’s phallic gift to mankind are native to the south pacific but have been since cultivated in over 107 countries. The most common variety is the dessert banana that we all know and love, but there are over 1000 types of bananas grown throughout the world.
Athletes often use bananas to replenish electrolytes, which, by the way, gives me an excuse to post this pic on the site…
So remember, a banana each day keeps the rectal cancer doctor away!
Today’s tip is a shopping list of sorts – the top 5 things you never want to purchase together when at the grocery store. That’s right, we’ve compiled a special list of things you should never buy in combination with each other… unless, of course, you want to freak out your local register monkey.
5. Snicker bars and needles/razor blades – This one seems obvious, but can get awesome reactions around Halloween time. Just don’t make eye contact to get the ultimate effect. A quick fact – since 1959 there have been only 80 reported cases of sharp objects in candy, and a good 75 percent were hoaxes.
Over the past few weeks I’ve become a huge fan of local Northern California cover bands. All it took was one rocking WonderBread 5 show and I was hooked! Last night I had the chance to check out the delightfully quirky “The Most Interesting Band in the World” The Pop Rocks at Crawdad’s (my new favorite Thursday night hot spot) and I went home with a huge smile on my face – these guys did indeed rock the pop!
Playing an eccentric list of pop hits from the past four decades the band had amazing stage presence and really got the crowd moving with party favorites from the Black Eyed Peas to Toto (this may have been the only time I’ve ever heard a cover band play Africa twice in one night).
The group’s costumes were hilarious – I’m a sucker for anything Elvis related so seeing an entire band in sequence jumpsuits put a huge smile on my face. My favorite performance of the night? A ground shaking rendition of the Van Halen classic Panama – you can’t go wrong with a few David Lee Roth high kicks mixed in with some killer guitar shredding.
The crowd was light at the beginning of the night, but the dance floor quickly filled with a great group of fans that knew how to have a good time.
Don’t miss these guys next time they are in town – you can thank me by buying me a beer at the next show! You can check out more details on the band and their upcoming shows at http://www.poprocks.net.
Check out this still of former Friends star, Jennifer Aniston, getting intimate with a banana.
The pic is from Aniston’s new comedy Horrible Bosses, where she plays a sex deprived boss that is put on a hit list by her inferiors.
During the flick she also shows the proper way to eat both a popsicle and hot dog – ladies, take notes:
Grab some popcorn! You made it just in time for a Mega Man Legends 3 Prototype Version matinee.
Check out these 12 new screens of Capcom’s Mega Man Legends 3 Prototype Version!
Capcom announced that the upcoming Mega Man Legends 3 Nintendo 3DS game will be getting a Nintendo eShop exclusive prototype version when the service launches this summer. Aptly titled Mega Man 3 Legends Prototype Version, the downloadable game will allow players a sneak peak of Mega Mans next open world adventure.
Mega Man 3 Legends Prototype Version will feature one core mission, but once players finish their assigned task the game will open up unfinished areas along with a debug menu that will grant special moves and abilities.
Capcom is also inviting 3DS owners to voice their opinion on the game through it’s Unity Web site.
Screens and video of the blue bomber in action are incoming – stay tuned!
